Eagles’ LB Nigel Bradham suspended for season opener by NFL

Eagles linebacker Nigel Bradham has been suspended for the season opener by the NFL.

Bradham’s suspension stems from an incident in July 2016 involving a hotel worker in Miami Beach, Fla. The linebacker says the issue is now resolved.

The key, then, will be whether Winston can bridge the gap from promising to great; that hope is a big reason why Koetter is still the Bucs’ coach. Marcus Mariota (drafted one spot after Winston in ’15), Wentz, Jared Goff and Deshaun Watson all look to be on faster tracks. Patrick Mahomes and Mitchell Trubisky are on deck.

The suspension will be only three games, but that’s a lot for a QB who is trying to live up to his lofty draft status.

Winston has a ton more to prove this year. It will be impossible to do that at the maximum level when his season will be incomplete from the start.

The Packers fully expect Cobb to be available for their season opener against the Bears on Sept. 9.

The Titans hardly knew 2017 No. 5 overall pick Corey Davis as a rookie, at least during the regular season. Hamstrung from the get-go, he saw only 65 targets in 11 games and produced 34 catches for 375 yards. But in the two playoff games while looking close to fully healthy, Davis turned 15 targets into 9 catches, 98 yards and two TDs, both against the Patriots.

Davis’ lingering injury hampered his progress and chemistry with Mariota, so it’s not a surprise that he’s living up to his draft status in his first full offseason. His size, speed and quickness combine to scream ideal No. 1 for LaFleur.

Davis’ emergence puts smooth route-running and good-hands Rishard Matthews in a more appropriate role as a No. 2. Taywan Taylor, last year’s third-round pick, should be much more effective in a dedicated slot role.
